JASON AND THE ARGONAUTS : MOVIE REVIEW
|

The movie Jason and the Argounauts is a movie of triumph and jouney of Jason with the Argonauts about his task to get the Golden Fleece. It is a movie where all the people will learn how to not to give up and how to be brave. It gives us lessons in our lives for us to be a better and braver person and how to fight in our struggles in life despite all the trials and downs we experienced in our lives.
The movie under 15 years old is rated PG because of the scenes like sexuality and nude scenes, forbidden romance between the characters, people are fighting, throwing spears at each other that can cause bad influence to the young audiences so therefore this movie should be only watch with some parental consent.
Jason and the Argonauts is a film made in year 2000 comes from the famous tale Greek Mythology: The Quest for the Golden Fleece. The film begins when the evil Pelias which is played by an famous actor Dennis Hopper usurps the throne of his half brother, Aeson, King of the Greek city of Iolcus, after murdering Aeson and marrying his wife, Polymele wich is played by Diana Kent. Aeson's child, escapes but returns years after as a young Jason which is played by Jason London to see his mother, Polymele, and claim his royal patrimony. Pelias then threatens to kill Polymele unless Jason brings him the Golden Fleece. Made of the skull, horns, and gilded wool of a winged ram, the fleece affords protection and prosperity to the kingdom that possesses it. It hangs from a tree on sacred ground in the Black Sea port of Colchis, where an unsleeping dragon protects it. After Jason agrees to undertake a perilous ocean voyage to retrieve it, he assembles a crew that includes the mighty Hercules (Brian Thompson) and the musician Orpheus (Adrian Lester). On the long ocean voyage aboard his ship, the Argo, Jason overcomes many perils passing through clashing rocks and fighting deadly Harpies while the gods Zeus and Hera observe from the heavens and occasionally meddle in Jason's exploits.he relents upon learning that the gods favor the youth. However, Jason must first prove himself by yoking a fire-breathing bull. With the help of the king's daughter, Medea which is played by Jolene Blalock, a sorceress smitten with love for him, Jason succeeds, survives further tests, kills the dragon, and returns with the fleece and Medea. But in Iolcus, Pelias gains control of the fleece, then sends 200 soldiers to kill Jason and his crew.
The movie 'Jason and The Argonauts' is a movie that recounts the Greek myth of Jason, who is aided in his quest for the Golden Fleece by the Goddess Hera. Jason must overcome several obstacles before reaching his goal. An epic saga of good and evil. As a mere boy Jason, the heir to the kingdom of Ancient Greece, witnesses the murder of his father at the hands of his ruthless uncle, Pelias. After narrowly escaping death, Jason flees his home and returns twenty years later to reclaim the throne. Everything happens for a reason but we should put in our mind that we are the author of our own lives. We can gain triumph and success in our lives if we don’t lose hope and have faith in God. Believe in yourself.
Jason London who’s portraying Jason in the movie acts greatly. He gives effort to his role. All the stunts and action scenes were shot carefully and his charming eyes make his character more mysterious. In my own opinion all the characters are good at acting specially to their roles. Even though my classmates were laughing every time that Orpheus were on his scene because we expect that Orpheus is a very decent and good-looking man.The actors and actresses were greatly chosen by Nick Willing its director. For me they portrayed their roles greatly. They look perfect for the different roles they’re portraying. Especially Olivia Williams who’s portraying Hera , she looks like a real goddess, her physical features suits in her character.
The editing is not quite good for me because some scenes are not that realistic it is most likely an old 80's movie like the scene where Jason must finish his quest by surviving to those skeletons and the bull but some scenes like in the beach where they will sail through their journey.
the Sound Engineering of the movie. For me the sound effects in the movie were verysuitable on the different scenes in the movie. For example the roaring sounds of the waves in the ocean were perfectly implemented in the movie. All the sounds effects were greatly place on the film. And lastly. Cinematography, for me the Cinematography of the movie was great and tremendous. The over-all shots were great. The cinematography was perfect. It makes the movie more convenient and suitable for the audience to watch. All the stunts and special effects were perfectly shot and it makes the movie consistent. All the cameras were placed in their designated areas for them to capture all the important parts or events that are happening in the struggles of Jason while he is on his journey to take the Golden Fleece.
